ABOUT FCF INTELLIGENCE

FCF Intelligence is the AI-native accounting, reporting, and tax business inside FCF Consulting Partners. We work with owner-led companies, most between $2M and $25M in revenue, across insurance agencies and brokerages, restaurant and hospitality groups, and home services.

We are building the firm we think this work is heading toward. Boutique by choice, with the technical standard a Big Four alum would recognize and the pace of a company still deciding how far it can go. Small enough that what you do is visible. Serious enough that it has to be right.

Technology carries more of the load here than it does at a traditional practice. That is exactly why the judgment of the people doing the work matters more, not less. We are AI-powered and human-led, and nothing reaches a client without a person deciding it is right.

Our view on tax is specific, and it shapes this role. Tax planning should not happen in isolation. Reducing tax matters, but not by stripping cash out of the company or making the business look weaker on paper than it is, because these owners often need those same financials and returns to finance a building, bring in a partner, buy someone out, acquire, raise capital, or sell. The tax position and the financial story have to hold together.

THE ROLE

You would own tax end to end: the planning our clients rely on, the compliance that sits underneath it, and the standard both are held to. It is a senior seat with genuine latitude over how the work is designed.

We are looking for someone who has a view on how tax should be practiced and has been waiting for somewhere to apply it. If you want a defined lane to execute inside, this is not that role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax planning and advisory

This is what clients value most and where we expect you to be strongest. Entity structure, owner compensation, timing, multi-state exposure, and the advanced strategies worth running for a profitable owner-led business. You would work from real numbers alongside the accounting and reporting team, so a plan reflects what the business is actually producing and does not undercut what the owner will need those financials to show later.

Compliance

Own preparation and review of business returns, primarily 1120-S and 1065 with some 1120, and the owner-level returns that go with them. Own the calendar, the extensions, and quarterly projections so nothing about April is a surprise.

The standard

Define what good looks like for tax here and hold it. We invest in tooling so senior people spend their time on judgment rather than mechanics, and you would shape how that applies to tax and what the review standard is behind it.

Team and growth

Work with the accounting and reporting teams rather than in parallel to them. Hire and develop as volume justifies it. Own the economics of the tax function as it scales.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required

Active CPA with a current PTIN. Eight or more years in public accounting, with meaningful time serving closely held businesses. A track record of leading rather than only preparing: reviewing others' work, owning client relationships, making the call on a position.

Deep pass-through experience, S corporations and partnerships in particular, including basis, distributions, and owner compensation. Multi-state filing experience. Hands-on Drake experience. Fluent in cloud accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online or Xero.

Advanced planning is not optional here. You should be able to look at a profitable owner-led business and see the strategies worth running, and be equally clear about the ones that are not worth the cost or the exposure.

You must be genuinely AI-forward. Not curious about it, not open to it. Already working this way, with a considered view on what it does well and where it should not be trusted yet. This seat sets that tone for the firm.

Highly preferred

Experience raising the technical standard of a tax function. Exposure to one of our verticals, particularly insurance agencies, multi-unit hospitality, or field services. Familiarity with the tax questions that surface around financing, partner buyouts, acquisitions, and sales, since our clients run into all four.

How you work

Self-directed, and comfortable owning an outcome rather than a task list. Able to work asynchronously with a distributed team. Able to explain a tax position to an owner in plain language, and to say plainly when something is not worth doing.

HOW TO APPLY

Send a short note about the kind of clients you have worked with, how technology already shapes the way you practice, and what you would want to build here. Attach your CV. A real person reads every one, and you will hear back either way.
